Experience
Candice became interested in dog training during her career as an Adoption
Counselor at the Anti-Cruelty Society (ACS). Since completing her
apprenticeship in 1997 at ACS she continues to teach classes as a Senior
Instructor. In addition to teaching classes at ACS, she has helped shelter
dogs develop good manners through exercise and training to become more
adoptable. She also spends her time dog sitting.
Knowledge
Grounded in positive reinforcement, Candice's training style focuses on
communication between owners and their animal companions. Her strong
understanding of the training methods and their outcomes affords her
flexibility in the classroom. From her training experience, she has been
able to assist owners with using techniques that build a connection and
create a stronger bond with their dogs.
Commitment
Candice continues to seek and understand new training methods by attending
seminars. With her 6 year old Labrador/Beagle mix, Brady, she challenges
herself by teaching new tricks and constantly trains to improve her handling
skills. From her knowledge and experience she hopes to become a CPDT
(Certified Pet Dog Trainer) this fall!
