Experience
Lisa has been training
dogs since she completed her apprenticeship at the Anti-Cruelty
Society (ACS) in 2001. In addition to teaching classes at
ACS, she has also worked in the shelter’s Behavior and
Training Department helping make shelter dogs more adoptable.
During that time, she has helped a number of homeless animals
deal with the stressors of being in the shelter environment
and ready them for their new homes. She also teaches private
clients.
Knowledge
Throughout her training career, Lisa has developed a training
style that centers on positive reinforcement and behavior
modification. She has been able to put the techniques she
has learned into clear-cut, easy-to-follow instructions for
people to better train their dogs. Lisa not only trains dogs,
but helps many people develop better communication and understanding
with their animal companions to help them both live harmoniously
together.
Commitment
Lisa is co-chairperson and a founding member of the Chicago
Area Pet Trainers Association (CAPTA). As well as attending
seminars and conferences to increase her knowledge in dog
training and behavior, Lisa also volunteers her time at ACS.
Lisa not only teaches dog training, she is a student as well.
With her 3 year old whippet/terrier mix, Izzy, she attends
numerous classes to keep her knowledge and handling skills
sharp.
